So I woke up this morning and the thought hit me right away. I don’t want to go anywhere. I need more sleep. Last night I was so exhausted that after the SuperBowl I went straight to bed – no ‘House’ no nothing. Just a distant thought remained in my mind…Why would someone name their child ‘Paxico’?
Anyway, 7:00am this morning , I did get up, drop the kids off at school early and got to my desk just in time to realize…wah wah waaah….
I forgot my laptop at home.
I could picture where it was in my mind- sitting on the floor in the hallway near the living room. I had actually put it there this morning. How could I handle the object and not so much as give it a second thought? Well – don’t cry over spilt milk and all that …
So I did an about turn and headed out into Toronto rush hour traffic for a second time. I got home half an hour later, and decided to make it worth my while. I added an extra layer of clothing to my dress, and grabbed my new teacup with a pouch of De caf Earl Grey tea, hopped in the car – singing Angie Stone, Jill Scott, India Irie, Faith Evans and Mahalia Jackson all the way back to my desk only to discover…
WHERE IS MY LAPTOP? That’s right. I forgot it. AGAIN. Can you see the unicycle riding clown and the juggling duo? Can you hear the flute of the festival melody ? Do do dutu dutu dodo dut dut dooluu …..
At this point I turned to I.T. in hopes they had a spare. That ended in predictable disappointment. So off I was again on the trip home to get that laptop. When I got in the house – something prompted me again in the kitchen – and thanks to God’s grace (and great sense of humour) – I was able to spot a small laptop case on the floor. My laptop!
So if my laptop was in the kitchen– then the one I came home for wasn’t even mine! Good Grief! I checked inside the bag to ensure the contents were there – and headed back to work.
Monday’s analysis: I really cannot do my job without a computer
Final assessment: Must change careers.
And now here I am sharing my Monday with you. Cheers,
Denise
I was wondering the same thing Plaxico….? Why??? It does not matter where you place the emphasis, it’s just wrong.
At least you really only had half a day a work. The second time, you should have just stayed at home.
